Experienced dance artist, Ailish Claffey, has been awarded an Artist in Residence 30 week programme at the beautiful setting of the Acre Project Celbridge Co. Kildare with special thanks to the Kildare Arts Service.
The residency will consist of engagement with members of the public as well as access to the onsite facilities and workshop space.
There is no doubt that the artist will find endless inspiration within the boundaries of this dynamic centre as well as within the community that surrounds it.
Ailish Claffey is a dance artist, choreographer and curator based in Co. Kildare. Over the last two decades she has worked with diverse groups within the community developing her co-creative and Dance for Health practice. Exploring the complexity of human relationship and examining the lived experience of those she works with lie at the heart of Ailish’s choreographic work. Ailish is currently exploring the use of scored work in a desire to move away from creating written work. Kindly supported by a Dance Bursary Award, The Arts Council, Ireland and Platform31 Award for Kildare 2022.
Ailish has already taken up residency here and begun creating movement workshops with the local community alongside delivering Dance for Health projects on behalf of Kildare County Council Arts Services, Health and Wellbeing programme. Ailish’s artistic practice is intergenerational and welcomes all ages and abilities. The Acre Project is delighted to have Ailish on board and look forward to seeing what unfolds from her practice in the coming months.
